SUMMARY *** When you use slideshow wallpaper changer and watch a video it won't be a good experience when the entire screen freezes out. because of the new blend effect. Possible solution: I think the blend effect (new effect that makes the accent color transition smooth) should be disabled when an app is on fullscreen-mode. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. enable slideshow wallpaper 2. watch a Youtube video with adaptive accent color enabled OBSERVED RESULT Video stutter every 15 minutes Possible solution: I think the blend effect (new effect that makes the accent color transition smooth) should be disabled when an app is on fullscreen-mode. EXPECTED RESULT Smooth video playback SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.95.0 Qt Version: 5.15.4 Kernel Version: 5.18.3-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz Memory: 7.7 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. The proposal makes a lot of sense when you're viewing a full-screen app that doesn't respect the color scheme at all like a game, or when the full-screen app is playing a video. It makes less sense when you're in a full-screen app that does respect the color scheme, like Kate or Gwenview. Since we can't easily detect this, maybe on balance it makes more sense to suppress the effect for all fullscreen apps.

I'm not really into KDE's development. But probably detecting windows that "constantly moving" or "playing a video" or "graphic intensive" and disabling the blend effect for them would be a better idea. that way apps like kate and Gwenview won't have the issue which you mentioned. plus non-fullscreen playback won't suffer anymore.
