SUMMARY After unicode added bold, italic, underline text standards for fonts, more plaintext programs started adding those, including Internet Relay Chat (IRC) which predates most word-processors, but even some IRC programs now make it easy, so text editors should certainly catch up! Describe the solution you'd like Add quick/normal keystrokes/menus to start/end bold, italic, underlined text. (I now also use other word-processor features plaintext, such as numbered & bulleted lists, but not asking for such yet, and there's probably much more others might like but I don't care about.) (I don't just use text editors for programming, but viewing/editing posts/articles, short/novella stories, viewing and in the past modifying a book, editing book-length websites, etc.) EXPECTED RESULT Text editors should become more like word processors a little if/when possible, starting with most simple, common aspects.
