Label data points with text from text column

Hi,
it would be very nice if it would be possible to label data points with text from text column (like it is possible in Excel).

In the attachment you could see a screenshot of my example.

One curve of my plot is "Events", and for every data points of "Events" I have a text column with the name "Notizen" which gives more information for that data point.

Now I want to show the text of the text column "Notizen" for every data point of the curve "Events".
But this is not possible, because I can not select a text column (it is only possible to select a numeric column like "WAG" in my example).

I think it would be very useful if for the labeling of data points also text columns like "Notizen" in my case could be selected.

Kind Regards from Germany
Tanja

Hi,

you are using a very old version of LabPlot. At least the current version 2.9.0 supports what you want.
Can you try to find a newer package for your system and check if it works for you too?

Greetings from Germany :-)

Hi Stefan,

thanks for your response.

I use Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS (see new attachments). Now I uninstalled Labplot with Packet manager "sudo apt-get remove -y labplot" and installed new from flathub (https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.kde.labplot2) because there was written version 2.9.0.
The info of LabPlot show that now version 2.9.0 is running.

I now can select the "Notizen" text column, but it only shows the first value of the text column, and that value is not at the right data point of the "Events" column (see several new attachments).

Greetings
Tanja

It shold be correct
"LabPlot_2_9_0_Labeling_with_numeric_column"
                    |
                    | 9 not 0

This problem is now fixed in the development version. I also updated the Flatpak so you should be able to check if it works for you by just using the latest Flatpak.

wrong_labels_and_zombie_labels

Hi Stefan,
thanks for the update.

Now every data point of "Events" has a label.

But I have still two problems:
First: Some labels seem not to be the correct ones.
And Second: Zooming the scales generates "zombie" labels.

Greetings
Tanja

I improved the fix for the custom value labels now. This should address the "wrong labels" problem.
I couldn't reproduce the "zombie" labels, but this may be fixed with this fix too.
Please check again as soon as the Flatpak is updated.

Hi Stefan,

many, many THANKS :-)))
Now the labels seems correct and the "zombies" are also gone.

Now I have only the problem that after saving the project and reopening it, my xy graph shows an X offset of 2 hours, but this is an other topic so I created a new bug report (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455579).

THANKS again,
Greetings
Tanja
