Description Tobias G. 2022-05-30 23:15:59 UTC
SUMMARY
Hey guys,
sometimes (1/3 times), when starting my system, I never see Plasma, but instead, the plymouth splash screen is shown endlessly spinning. Nothing happens then, I can prevent that by hitting an F key early, then Plasma is starting reliably.
I haven't tested it with Plasma 5.24.5 yet, but it happened on 5.24.4.
It also just happened with wayland sessions so far.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. boot system into wayland session
2. observe plymouth

OBSERVED RESULT
plymouth is shown endlessly

EXPECTED RESULT
plymouth is terminated and Plasma is shown

This will be caused by something below us, since no KDE code is running at the time the Plymouth splash screen is shown. I would recommend contacting your distro people about it.
