STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start k3b and add a dvd "ex_machina, 2015"
2. select medium will offer reasonable infos about sizes etc, also saying copy forbidden
3. activate reading out the dvd with default params Video MPG4, Audio MPG4L1, origin size, bitrate 1200 kbps and variable bitrate

OBSERVED RESULT
Each title brings: transcode unknown error, code 1 and can't read title X

EXPECTED RESULT
succesful reading out

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
OpenSUSE leap 15.3
KDE Frameworks 5.76.0
Qt 5.12.7 (kompiliert gegen 5.12.7)
Das xcb Fenstersystem

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In order to exclude some side effects I tried a few other things:
- vlc (official leap version) was not able to play it, instead makes desktop unstable/hanging
- vlc (packman version) was not able to play it, instead makes desktop unstable/hanging
- vlc (win10) was able to play it
so hw is not the problem ;-)

just another hint: vlc will offer the first step (menu) and i may select a language. Then it will hang showing no picture, but the sound will start
