Gwenview freezes while opening an image file (jpg) from an external drive *** The program completely freezes, and the user has to kill the window manually. This has happened all times to me whenever I was trying to open an image from an external drive (either USB flash drive or an SD card). Image files are fine: if I copy the files first to the local drive, Gwenview successfully opens them. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Dolphin and navigate to some folder with images in JPG format from an external drive. 2. Open some image using Gwenview. OBSERVED RESULT Gwenview shows the image, but it completely freezes. EXPECTED RESULT Gweview would show the image, and the interface should be responsible. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 36 KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 Kernel Version: 5.17.9-300.fc36.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Quadro P400/PCIe/SSE2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If there's even a tiny error on any drive (internal, separate "/" and "home", external) KDE will freeze, incl. Gwenview (confirmed). Will not happen when you access photos on your external drive with suckless (nxiv).
Thank you for the bug report. Unfortunately we were not able to get to it yet. Can we ask you to please check if this is still an issue with Gwenview 25.08?
