Looked in settings and tried to resolve there but nothing stood out. 5. tried pkcon to repair fix update packages nothing. 6. tried shutting down plasmashell restarting nothing. 7. tried to find / use prior kernel but could not find a list in the UEFI options. 8. cannot even resize my terminal window from a mini one. OBSERVED RESULT EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS $ dmesg | grep -i "linux version" [ 0.000000] Linux version 5.13.0-44-generic (buildd@lcy02-amd64-107) (gcc (Ubuntu 9.4.0-1ubuntu1~20.04.1) 9.4.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu) 2.34) #49~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 18 18:44:28 UTC 2022 (Ubuntu 5.13.0-44.49~20.04.1-generic 5.13.19) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
KDE Plasma version: 5.24.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.94.0 Graphics Platform: X11 Kernel: 5.13.0-44-generic (64 bit) I even removed the .kde and .config in my directory to refresh, still no title bar or ability to move the windows even. Settings will not close - did not know it did not have a "quit" or "exit" menu vs. the close button.
KDE Neon 5.24
Sounds like KWin crashed. IIRC this is due to a recent Neon packaging issue.
Created attachment 149180 [details] attachment-9788-0.html Thank you for the info Nate Do you know if Neon is going to fix this or will I need to redo my distro. I have been doing Microsoft junk for the last year so this "feature" threw me for a curve... Thanks again for the info. Let me guess: you have steam installed from the distro repos, and your `kwin` package isn't installed, right? If so, you'll need to reinstall kwin and accept that Steam gets uninstalled. Then you can reinstall Steam using Discover. Installing apps from the command line is not supported in Neon and can cause issues like this.
Created attachment 149227 [details] attachment-14572-0.html Thank you Nate, LOL, what no command line? geez, silly gui stuff abstracts too much. This was a refresher on Linux, but was working on some Microsoft projects and could not spend time on this. I installed KUbuntu, wiped Neon this was too unstable. Hope Kubuntu is supported by command line, dpkg, apt, synaptic... Will have to look up Steam, heard about it off and on, gaming right? Thank you for your assistance. Yes, Kubuntu fully supports getting apps using the command line. If that's how you prefer to do it, it sounds like Kubuntu is a better choice for you than Neon was.
Created attachment 149243 [details] attachment-29626-0.html Command line is not necessarily a preference but if one is abstracting the layers one needs to cover for what would cause things like dependencies. For example I had not messed with either apt or dpkg in months yet Kwin goes hokey....not a good time (lol). Thank you for the assistance.
