It seems there are other similar requests asking for unifying the wallpaper setting experience. However, it seems it is complex and it cannot be done right now. However, it would be great if the SDDM KCM in System Settings gained the ability to select images from the wallpaper list to be placed as the background. Currently, the system allows the user to select custom images but does not show the wallpaper images anywhere. If this menu was brought into the selection, it would be easier for users to set the wallpaper background in SDDM and have the same image in all areas of the system.
I am not sure if it makes sense. SDDM themes have their own backgrounds, and where should the default background be placed among other backgrounds in a GridView?

I think what I am hinting at here is the behavior we see in mobile and other OSs where they set a global wallpaper and any location that presents the user with the same background stays the same.
We've had that conversation many times before. It can't be done as long as the desktop, lock screen, and login screen have different capabilities as to what they can display. This only works in environments where all of them have the same capabilities. Otherwise you would try to do something like set a slideshow on your desktop and you wouldn't see it on your login screen, because the login screen doesn't have that capability. Your original proposal is doable though, as the login screen can only display a single wallpaper, so the single wallpaper chooser UI we already have would work for it.

Seems i reported the same bug, file selector of sddm settings starts in the home directory and i think it should be at least, if not same, a folder that has current sddm wallpaper and others if exist, and the look of the window should be thumbnail view like desktop wallpaper selector. I do not see why it cannot be done.
