Application: kate (21.12.3) Qt Version: 5.15.3 Frameworks Version: 5.92.0 Operating System: Linux 5.17.9-xanmod1 x86_64 Windowing System: X11 Distribution: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS DrKonqi: 5.24.4 [KCrashBackend] -- Information about the crash: - What I was doing when the application crashed: Alt-tabbed into KATE This issue happens very rarly, I'm unable to reproduce this issue even If I want to, but it does happen sometimes when I'm writing something. This issue becomes pretty serious when I'm researching something, and writing those down on Kate, as I need to switch between my browser and Kate quite often. This causes Kate to crash at least once, and everything I've written that point is lost. My OS is Kubuntu The crash can be reproduced sometimes. -- Backtrace: Application: Kate (kate), signal: Segmentation fault [KCrash Handler] #4 0x00007f2968ea7d98 in QCoreApplication::notifyInternal2(QObject*, QEvent*) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #5 0x00007f296aeade1c in QUimPlatformInputContext::commitString(QString const&) () at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/platforminputcontexts/libuimplatforminputcontextplugin.so #6 0x00007f296aeadeb0 in QUimPlatformInputContext::commit_cb(void*, char const*) () at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/platforminputcontexts/libuimplatforminputcontextplugin.so #7 0x00007f296272275d in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim.so.8 #8 0x00007f29626f8766 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #9 0x00007f29626f89e9 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #10 0x00007f29626f7c81 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #11 0x00007f29626f7def in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #12 0x00007f29626f80a3 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #13 0x00007f29626f89e9 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #14 0x00007f29626f7c81 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #15 0x00007f29626f8766 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #16 0x00007f29626f89e9 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #17 0x00007f29626fa28b in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #18 0x00007f29626f874b in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #19 0x00007f29626f89e9 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #20 0x00007f2962707a15 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #21 0x00007f29626e92f1 in GCROOTS_call_with_gc_ready_stack () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcroots.so.0 #22 0x00007f2962707ae7 in uim_scm_callf () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim-scm.so.0 #23 0x00007f2962725e3c in uim_focus_out_context () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuim.so.8 #24 0x00007f296aeab7c1 in QUimPlatformInputContext::unsetFocus() () at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/platforminputcontexts/libuimplatforminputcontextplugin.so #25 0x00007f2969284cdb in QGuiApplicationPrivate::_q_updateFocusObject(QObject*) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Gui.so.5 #26 0x00007f296928c735 in QGuiApplicationPrivate::processActivatedEvent(QWindowSystemInterfacePrivate::ActivatedWindowEvent*) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Gui.so.5 #27 0x00007f2969265a2c in QWindowSystemInterface::sendWindowSystemEvents(QFlags<QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag>) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Gui.so.5 #28 0x00007f2963c90d6e in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5XcbQpa.so.5 #29 0x00007f2967147d1b in g_main_context_dispatch () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #30 0x00007f296719c6f8 in () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #31 0x00007f29671453c3 in g_main_context_iteration () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 #32 0x00007f2968f010a8 in QEventDispatcherGlib::processEvents(QFlags<QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag>) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #33 0x00007f2968ea674b in QEventLoop::exec(QFlags<QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag>) () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #34 0x00007f2968eaece4 in QCoreApplication::exec() () at /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5 #35 0x00005579b294173e in () #36 0x00007f29687c3d90 in __libc_start_call_main (main=main@entry=0x5579b293ded0, argc=argc@entry=2, argv=argv@entry=0x7ffc5964fed8) at ../sysdeps/nptl/libc_start_call_main.h:58 #37 0x00007f29687c3e40 in __libc_start_main_impl (main=0x5579b293ded0, argc=2, argv=0x7ffc5964fed8, init=<optimized out>, fini=<optimized out>, rtld_fini=<optimized out>, stack_end=0x7ffc5964fec8) at ../csu/libc-start.c:392 #38 0x00005579b29438d5 in _start () [Inferior 1 (process 12451) detached] Possible duplicates by query: bug 453795, bug 453716, bug 453454, bug 453234, bug 453227. This looks more like a crash in the UIM stuff, please try a recent version if that still happens.

Sorry, I currently don't use UIM and have habit of constantly saving while working with kate, so It's now unlikely that I will face this issue again.
