Using Linux Mint 20.3 installed via 'sudo apt install okteta' but when loading the application nothing would open when i try to open a file nothing happens. downloaded Version 0.26.8 through flatpak and that works fine just disappointing the char table dose not support double bytes this almost became my favourite app.

You tried to open a file via the menu entry or the toolbar? Sounds like you hit bug 441802, too bad Qt still does not have that fixed. When it comes to no double byte support in the char table, different issue, interest for it though noted.
