Is blender running under X?

If in doubt run xprop and click on the blender window. If you get information it's under X

A freeze in Blender is probably a Blender problem.

Can you attach output of running "WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 blender " and reproducing the freeze. I'll look at it before asking you to forward there.
