Change notification history order to sort by date

When viewing history, it makes more sense to see the most recent items
first, unlike the old mode where it sorted it by type and urgency.

This says it was fixed, but currently in KDE Plasma 6.4.1 which I have on my desktop, I am unable to show the notification history in chronological order. If this was fixed at some point, it does not seem fixed any more. When I get a new notification and dismiss it, I can't find it in my notification history without scrolling all over the place. The order as it is now makes no sense whatsoever. I am expecting the latest notification to be at the top of the history, always, regardless of where it came from.

I would change the status to "REOPENED", but I'm not sure I have the authority here to do so.

It looks like notifications within groups are now sorted chronologically, but the groups themselves are not. So we need a way to turn off grouping. Re-titling accordingly.
Comment 5 Alex Folland 2025-07-05 17:28:22 UTC
Even the notifications within groups are sorted in the wrong chronological order, with the latest at the bottom instead of the top. This means the latest one is never at the top unless there's literally only 1 notification. I always have to scroll to see anything recent.

By the way, the notification history keeps getting deleted between sessions and one-by-one when clicking notifications. I want to keep it indefinitely without it deleting anything, like in XFCE. I can't find any way to set that in KDE. If it was simply sorted chronologically with the latest at the top, it would make perfect sense to maintain the history forever.

How is any of this chronological?

I've attached an image of my notification history, and it's extremely not chronological. There's absolutely nothing in any kind of chronological order in it whatsoever, and there's a confusing message saying I received notifications during DND, but I have no idea what those notifications even are. It takes a significant amount of time to figure out which notifications are latest. The latest should just be at the top, and even the group with the latest should be at the top, with the latest in that group at the top of that group. Currently, as you can see in the screenshot, nothing like that is happening.

I've added numerical labels beside the notifications in my screenshot to show what the real chronological order should be. It's just completely scrambled in every way imaginable.

Yeah, that's a bug which should be fixed with Plasma 6.4.4.
