Which Hugin version did you try to detect exactly ?
It's a shame that digiKam on Ubuntu is only available as a useless snap package. It is no longer understandable that the Hugin PPA has now also been removed. Hello, I tried the flatpack and appimage packages of Hugin, and both were not detected by Digikam. I also (first) try the ppa proposed in the Hugin website, but it did not work, there was no package available. However, the ppa proposed in Maik's comment webpage works, so it is now fixed.
