SUMMARY Firefox stalled and crashed. After that I noticed there was this scrollbar from the screenshots. Firefox 100 has some scrollbar changes in its release, no idea if its related... That's not FF related. Desktop view does deliberately show a scrollbar if we can't fit all the icons on the screen. There's still something wrong, but it's more understandable
FWIW it's Arch BTW, I selected Redhat by mistake and corrected it later.

The last time i left the laptop sleeping with about 9% battery, and I left the phone charging from the laptop. Laptop's battery seems to have died cause when I returned it was shut off. I turned it on and when I logged it the display scaling was 100% instead of 125%.So I changed it again to 125%. I don't remember whether/if this has caused the scrollbar or the Firefox crash.
If you scroll up, do you see any desktop icons at the top of the screen?
@Nate see the attached screencast. I'm scrolling all the way up I can. The scrollbar hits the top and can't go anymore. But if I scroll to the bottom it just overflows / starts again at the top.
Fixed in Plasma 5.27 by porting Folder View to a new better scroll view type that does not trigger this issue.
