(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: konqueror Version: KDE 3.0.2 Severity: wishlist Installed from: SuSE RPMs Compiler: gcc 2.95.3 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: SuSE Linux 7.2 Imagine you've got a folder with 500 items (at least I do) and most of them contain some space (" "). I click on the icon list and type "By th" to get to "By the way.txt". However when I come to the space konqueror only unselects the file. I think that isn't really an important feature. If you want to unselect a file you can use Ctrl+Space and when you press space it should count as another letter for a file you are looking for. I don't know if I'm explaining clearly what I mean... Functionality is still not correct. Pressing Space while typing selects the item, but clears the current text you have typed, so typing the next character in the file name starts matching from the top again. As long as you are typing quickly enough, space should be treated like any other character.
and pressing space should search for files whose name starts with a space character. So logically a new key should be chosen for selecting/deselecting. Maybe shift would do? No might be needed for typing capitals. Actually I see that search is case insensitive so shift might not be so bad.
Do you still have the problem with konq? If you do maybe try dolphin
All reports about file management mode reported against KDE 3 (konqueror) has been closed: konqueror in KDE 3 is no more developed and mantained. All bugs and wishes which could be interesting for Dolphin in KDE 4 (the new KDE file manager) has been collected into a specific list. Please try the new file manager before request new features and report bugs. Before submitting new reports check carefully the already opened KDE/Dolphin reports in order to don't add duplicates. Many thanks.
