SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Ensure `plasma-wayland-session` is installed 2. Log in using Wayland 3. Try moving mouse or using multi-finger gestures using touch pad OBSERVED RESULT Mouse does not move and multi-finger gestures do not register. EXPECTED RESULT Mouse movement and multi-finger gestures registering. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux stable (fully updated using `sudo pacman -Syu`) (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Tested on Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 with AMD CPU (14ALC05), using fully updated Arch Linux install. Error occurs after second login on a fresh install of Arch/Plasma. Neon live cd needs testing to eliminate possibility of missing packages. Could also be tested on Dell Inspiron 5600 (Intel).
I have the same issue. The since the latest major update today, the touchpad does no longer work. Mouse input thankfully works, but I usually use my touchpad on the go so a mouse is no option there. For me it's not Wayloand, but X11 Operating System: KDE neon 5.24 KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 Kernel Version: 5.13.0-40-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 ร AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics Memory: 30.8 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD RENOIR
Do you have libinput installed?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2) > Do you have libinput installed? You may forgive the new Linux user, but: How do I do that? Somthing like "libinput -v" in the terminal? Ormaybe something with xinput? (In reply to BOF from comment #1) > I have the same issue. > The since the latest major update today, the touchpad does no longer work. > Mouse input thankfully works, but I usually use my touchpad on the go so a > mouse is no option there. I tested the issue on a live USB with Ubuntu 22.10. I sometimes get the same error. After restart KDE neon I got the same issue. It does not work most of the time, and for a short moment the touchpad works (scrolling, clicking, tab to click, etc.). After I wrote a few words in here, the touchpad is gone again. So it *might* be my PC, but since it's rather new and the touchpad showed no sign of 'dying' I don't think so. Is there any diagnostic tool that shows touchpad inputs like there is for the game controler in the KDE settings app? Some more weirdness: The touchpad does not work. I keep moving my fingers across the touchpad. All the sudden the mouse starts moving.
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2) > Do you have libinput installed? I do have `libinput` installed. This would also not explain why it works for two sessions and then stops working on the third log in, would it? Thank you for you help. I really appreciate it!
Extra/updated information: The 5.24.5 update hit the Arch repos today and did not fix the issue.
Thanks for the info. Bof, your bug is different, so can you please open a new bug report for it? Thanks!
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #6) > Bof, your bug is different, so can you please open a new bug report for it? > Thanks! After an update yesterday my touchpad works again - for now. It it stops working (hopefully not) I'll create a new bug report with it.
Same issue here for me. It began in 5.24.4 and still happens in 5.25. I've had to use the X11 session as a workaround. Laptop is a Yoga 6 13ARE05. Output of hwinfo --all 80: PS/2 00.0: 10500 PS/2 Mouse [Created at input.249] Unique ID: AH6Q.Jng17+PwDNA Hardware Class: mouse Model: "MSFT0002:00 04F3:31AA Touchpad" Vendor: 0x04f3 Device: 0x31aa "MSFT0002:00 04F3:31AA Touchpad" Compatible to: int 0x0210 0x0001 Device File: /dev/input/mice (/dev/input/mouse1) Device Files: /dev/input/mice, /dev/input/mouse1, /dev/input/event3, /dev/input/by-path/platform-AMDI0010:00-event-mouse, /dev/input/by-path/platform-AMDI0010:00-mouse Device Number: char 13:63 (char 13:33) Driver Info #0: Buttons: 1 Wheels: 0 XFree86 Protocol: explorerps/2 GPM Protocol: exps2 Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown
Is this still a problem for you with the current Plasma 6.1.3? Works here on Arch Linux with Apple Magic Trackpad (3rd gen)
