SUMMARY
Any comics that are configured do not show. I believe this started on KDE Plasma Version 5.24.3.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add comic widget to desktop
2. Configure comics (in my case Dilbert and XKCD)

OBSERVED RESULT
Comic widget remains blank although tabs do appear for each comic.

EXPECTED RESULT
Latest comic should be displayed.

Can confirm the exact same behavior and also that this started around 5.24.3.

and a system with the same software settings but 
8x Core i7 8770 and Mesa/Intel graphics

one workaround seems to be to downgrade the KDE framework to 5.92

Yep, it's a recent regression. It's fixed in 5.24.5, which was just released today.
