SUMMARY *** I have multiple albums, and none of them have anything topically to do with one another. None. The tags for one album make absolutely zero sense to apply to another. It would be nice to have the option to segregate tags by album so when viewing a particular album, those are the only tags I see to apply and the only tags that can be applied to that album. What tags are actually on a picture can show for that picture, and show in the list so I can remove them, but the list itself should have an option to be album-specific. So if Picture A has a tag "mountain" in my Landscape album, and the photograph gets mixed in with my People album, I'll still be able to see and manipulate the "mountain" tag on that particular picture, but otherwise the list of tags when viewing the People album would only show my people-oriented tags.
Hi, Which digiKam version did you use ? Best Gilles Caulier
And what kind of tags should be displayed for a virtual album where images from different physical albums are mixed? Sorry, but I don't think this wish makes sense. There is a pushbutton under the tag tree in the right sidebar to hide nonexistent tags in selected images. Maik

My mother's family photo album with all the tags as to who the various family lineages are have nothing to do with my architecture album, and yes, I keep those physical directories separate. For people who don't isolate their physical albums, they can leave the feature off.
