This bug semms aoour randomly... but I confirm that the proxy is created when you reject to change the profile. Also the "copy file position in the clipboard" in the hamburger menu copies the proxy position.
I cannot reproduce the issue following your steps. Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 21.21.3 to see if there are any packaging issues https://kdenlive.org/en/download/
It seems that new versions of kdenlive are not affected.
