Option to display thumbnails of video files on Plasma desktop. Thumbnails for video files in *.mp4 and *.mkv formats, which are the most used today.
This option is already there. :) Right-click desktop > Configure > Icons > Configure Preview Plugins > Check the checkbox for "video Files" If no such checkbox exists in the list, it's because you don't have the package that provides the video file thumbnailer. Try installing "ffmpegthumbs" and then go tell your distro to ship this plugin by default when installed.

Thanks a lot for the tip Nate, really Neon doesn't bring this package by default. How can I report this to the Neon developers, did you manage to tag them in this comments?
Best to file a new bug report against neon | general, and mention this one.
