On several occasions it would be beneficial to visually see where for instance the "80 character line width" is by having the background change at that mark. So while typing in the terminal you could already see when you are approaching the limit. The width should be configurable in the konsole settings. Possible solutions would be * allow special SVG backgrounds were certain elements in the image can anchor to a certain width provided by konsole * a background color that changes brightness or hue at the character width limit * a vertical line in the background with a slightly changed background color to make the character width limit visible

There's already an option at profile settings: Appearance→Miscellaneous→Display Vertical line at column
