Description Patrick Silva 2022-04-19 11:44:09 UTC
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. use Wayland session
2. open Konsole
3. run ls command in a location containing a text file
4. hold ctrl key, hover over the text file in the output of ls and click on it

OBSERVED RESULT
Konsole opens the text file with the associated text editor (Kate in my case), but I do not see the bouncing cursor.
I see the bouncing cursor when following the same steps with .png and .mkv files.

EXPECTED RESULT

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.94.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Graphics Platform: Wayland

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Konsole continues to open text files with Kate even after changing the associated text editor to gedit.

EXPECTED RESULT
bouncing cursor should always work when we open a file with ctrl+click on Wayland
Comment 2 Patrick Silva 2023-11-17 20:50:23 UTC
Cursor does not bounce and also there is no startup notification in the task manager.
Comment 3 Patrick Silva 2024-02-29 14:53:29 UTC
On Plasma 6 I see a startup notification with a generic icon near the mouse pointer after the provided step.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2
Graphics Platform: Wayland

If that works as intended with 6.x this is fixed.
