file name too long
***
K3b project: Burn data project
error: the iso file to be burned was a Linux Mint iso, file name "linuxmint-20.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso"
description: At the start of the burn, K3b said the file name was too long for Windows (julien tree). The K3b burn would be dependent on the user shortening the file name to conform to Windows file name limitations.
The iso file is to be burned to a DVD for a Linux installation, and has nothing at all to do with Windows. The insistence on a data burn conforming to Windows is UNACCEPTABLE.
The limitation on the iso file name in K3b suggests that Microsoft is exerting control over your software. We shall not be using K3b software for burning ISO files to disk, as we have no requirement for Windows and shall not be bound by limitations imposed by Microsoft.
PLEASE NOTE We are aware of Microsoft buying and owning GitHub, thereby owning the intellectual property of all software added to the GitHub repository, and no longer use GitHub.
Our programmers often contribute to the open source community and we are all disappointed by the limitation which has been built in to K3B. PLEASE RECONSIDER YOUR POLICY.
