Description techxgames 2022-04-11 22:07:00 UTC
SUMMARY
I disconnected the display by turning off my KVM switch, and when I turned it back on, KWin crashed, and the display changes to low resolution (I believe it was 1024x768 because it was stretched out)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Lock the screen
2. Disconnect HDMI (in my case, either switch or turn off the KVM)

OBSERVED RESULT
* Resolution changes to something low and probably 1024x768 due to it being stretched
* I believe KWin crashed because all of my windows appeared in multiple activities

EXPECTED RESULT
* Windows shouldn't be appearing to all activities
* Display resolution should go back to what it was before display was disconnected or properly detect the monitor's resolution and switch to it.

Please check with "coredumpctl list" if KWin was the only thing that crashed

I just found out that Kubuntu doesn't have coredump, and when I want to install it, it's asking me to remove apport and apport-kde.
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2022-04-26 19:45:17 UTC
I guess you can use apport? I'm not too familiar with Kubuntu, sorry.

Oh wait.. This was Neon running on my desktop's graphically accelerated VM.

I was thinking of my laptop, which is somewhat similar.
