Description frederic.parrenin@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr 2022-03-29 10:43:45 UTC
I have a dell xps13 laptop which is connected to internet through a usb-c DS-1000 docking station, itself connected through an ethernet port.
The ethernet connection works, but I have no way to configure it in KDE.
The connection does not appear neither in the network applet, nor in KDE settings.

Linux/KDE Plasma: debian bookwrom
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

So I discovered this was a problem with NetworkManager not managing this network interface, and I fixed it.
Gnome displays a "Device Not Managed", which is more helpful, since you can search for the problem on the web.
Would be good to do the same in Plasma.
Thanks.

I've got a setup like this myself now, and the ethernet connection appears in plasma-nm. So it looks like perhaps some upstream change in NetworkManager fixed it.
