SUMMARY Oftentimes, if I leave the computer on a non-X TTY for a while, when I go back to the TTY that's running KDE plasma, the media player controls will not work anymore (do not detect when something is playing, and don't to anything when clicked). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Launch a plasma session. 2. Put a media player control widget on the task bar. 3. Play some music or video with some software that's compatible with the media player controls widget. 4. Switch to a different TTY. 5. Leave the computer inactive for a couple hours. 6. Return to the TTY that's running KDE plasma. 7. Play some media. OBSERVED RESULT Media player controls don't work anymore. EXPECTED RESULT Media player controls should keep working. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.16.0-5-amd64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight-Core Processor Memory: 15.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD VEGA10
David, could you get in the habit of reporting bugs against what you think is the correct component, instead of the generic "kde" component? Your guess might not always be right and it will have to be moved somewhere else, but that *always* happens for bugs filed in "kde." :) In this case "plasmashell | Media Player" is in the ballpark.
Is it still reproducible in Plasma 6? If it happens, do other shortcuts work?
