SUMMARY Once the screen is locked (no matter whether deliberately or because of the screen lock timer), it is not possible to unlock again. No password field or anything else is shown, just the clock. Typing the password blind also does not work. System is otherwise responsive (on other TTYs and via SSH). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Lock screen or wait for automatic lock. 2. Try to unlock. OBSERVED RESULT Lock screen is still shown. EXPECTED RESULT Return to unlocked desktop environment SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: CentOS Stream 8, 4.18.0-365.el8.x86_64 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.3 (from epel repository) KDE Frameworks Version: 5.88.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Problem appeared after a bunch of updates were installed by the admin last week. Version that was installed before is unfortunately unknown.
> KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.3 (from epel repository) I'm afraid this version is no longer supported. The only versions of Plasma that are supported are the latest release, and the latest LTS release. Any chance you can upgrade to 5.24 and try again? If now, I would recommend contacting your distro packagers for support, as they're the ones responsible for backporting fixes for older unsupported versions of software, should they choose not to ship the latest version or the latest LTS version
