SUMMARY Who uses a panel at the bottom of the screen will have problems with wrong clicks. The buttons are small and are very close to the end of the window. https://i.imgur.com/ZZgNRZQ.png The height is also inconsistent with other KDE programs such as dolphin. https://i.imgur.com/jLChRRB.png The previous margin that existed in this bar was ideal, I don't think it should be changed even with the reduction of the vertical space after the introduction of the urlbar. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 Graphics Platform: X11
This was done intentionally to reduce the amount of space taken by the bottom stuff and allow the editor to take maximum available space. It might make clicking on the buttons a bit harder, but that is a sacrifice that was needed to do this. However, the panels at the bottom can be assigned shortcuts which you can use to easily toggle them. Consistency with dolphin is not needed, both are different programs with different uses. Lastly the urlbar can be hidden from Settings if needed. I doubt we want to go back to the previous state considering the amount of effort that was done to make this possible however, I will leave it for Christoph to decide whether to consider the request or mark it as intentional.
Naturally the shrinked padding makes it a bit more delicate to hit but on the other side it provides a better polished bottom row of the editor window. I would keep this as is ATM. We did try a few variants and the shrinked combined bar is at the moment the best we came up with.
can we call the @VDG people from here?
Sure one can call it, but we will not just change that back and forth. We use similar margins since some time for the buttons at the top in the central area and toolviews and that works well. Naturally one can perhaps improve the whole toolview buttons/borders areas, but then somebody must step up to do this in a consistent way.
I think the same size as the side ones would be good
