In Windows or Gnome, when you plug a jack headset, there is a popop window that appears and that ask to choose between headphone, headset or microphone. I find that convenient, especially for beginners, since you don't have the bad surprise that your sound preferences are not configured correctly. Would it be possible to do the same in KDE? Have you found that it was ever not configured properly? We try to avoid adding input device configuration unless there is a problem or some information that the user genuinely needs to provide. Otherwise I can imagine it being quite annoying if you see a popup every single time you plug in a pair of headphones.
Yes, we I plug a headset, the output is correctly configured to the headset, but not the input (the microphone), which stays set on the laptop microphone. So I have to set that each time I plug a headset. It is OK when you have figured it out, but the first time, when you are in a hurry for your next visio meeting, it is disturbing. I use Debian testing with Plasma 5.24.3.
Ok, thanks.
