Description Jan B. 2022-03-16 10:57:18 UTC
SUMMARY
The new 5.23 Overview and "Present Windows" Action both present all windows depending on the display, they are visible on. I could not find a Task Switcher that does something similar. This would be realy nice effect for a Task Switcher.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open System Settings
2. Navigate to Task Switcher
3. select a random Visualization
4. Press Alt+Tab
5. goto step 3.

OBSERVED RESULT
only one display is used

EXPECTED RESULT
windows are shown in a grid on the their present display and the selected window is highlighted

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Graphics Platform: X11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Ideas:
- make "Present Windows" or "Overview" selectable as a Task Switcher and implement Alt+Tab instand of arrow keys.

There is a Task Switcher called Thumbnail Grid that pretty much does this. "Grid" is the same but the thumbnails are even bigger.

if you don't see them, you probably need to install the kdeplasma-addons package.

It is installed and there are a lot of options, but Grid is not the thing I am searching for.
My Idea was to merge 2 existing features. My current workaround is to open the overview effect and select it via mouse. Overview has no arrow key or alt+tab window switching.
It also would be a Task Switcher that clearly shows where to expect the next window and gives a idea what windows are open on which monitor.

Do these new comments and screenshots help? This was meant as a Feature Request and not a Bug Report. I apologize for the misunderstanding.
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2022-04-06 19:20:46 UTC
Merging the Overview effect and Thumbnail Grid task switcher isn't really technically feasible, sorry.

Suggestions for new features usually make sense only in the context of having a problem that needs solving. Is it that the Thumbnail Grid task switcher doesn't appear on the screen you're currently looking at when it appears?
