SUMMARY double language NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports Although I installed the krita-l10n package and set the main language to German, parts of the GUI still appear in the second language (e.g. English). This is not a hindrance but quite unpleasant. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install package krita-l10n 2. Set the main and the fallback language (German) 3. restart the program OBSERVED RESULT two languages appear EXPECTED RESULT one unique language SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: kubuntu 20/04 LTS (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.8 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Kernel Version: 5.4.0-104-generic OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 8 × AMD Ryzen 5 2500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx Memory: 6,8 GiB
Setting the fallback language to German is irrelevant: you won't get more translated words from the same translation file... I have tested with the appimage, and I don't see any missing translations, except for the parts the translations haven't translated yet -- like some parts of the layer style dialog. Please attach a screenshot of the missing translations so I can see whether it's because nobody has translated those parts yet, or Kubuntu packaging error.

Is your desktop set to French?
Main language in German Fallback language in French
I'm slightly confused, is the bug about English text appearing when UI language is set to German, or is there a third language (French) being involved here? (Sorry, I don't know German or French.) Can you please reply with the text from "Help -> Show system info for bug reports"? Specifically the first block containing "Languages".
@Alvin Wong Please read the complete history, specially comment 6. Please note, that not everybody in this world speaks English, so a correct localisation is helpful. Krita Version: 5.0.2 Languages: de, de, fr, de, de, fr, de, de, fr, de, fr, de_AT, de Hidpi: true
Is the problem about French being mixed in the German UI? In this case this is the expected behaviour since you have French set as a fallback language. When a particular string hasn't been translated in German, then the localization system will take the string from the next fallback languages. If it is still not available, then the English (source) string will be used. The German localization of Krita is, unfortunately, not quite near completion at all. According to the charts [1] the German localization of the current stable branch of Krita has 4885 strings translated, which is only 60% of all strings. As the members of KDE localization teams are volunteers, we cannot guarantee that all translations are complete every time we release a new version. If you would like to help with localizing Krita into German, I encourage you to consider getting involved with KDE localization [2]. The German team seems quite active. You can contact them through their mailing list [3]. Thank you for your comment. But if I were so good at translating, I wouldn't need a german edition of the program. Writing comments can be made with translators.
