SUMMARY Remote input's operation varies from that which a touchpad user would expect. For example, here is a comparison - On kdeconnect pinch to zoom isnt available. - Drag and drop: -- on a touchpad, when you double tap and hold, its like you have the left button held down, until you release your hand -- on kde connect, when you double tap (or long press), its like you have the left button held down, but you need to tap again to release. I guess this is mode is really nice for people who arent familiar with a touchpad and/or have accessibility issues STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect your phone and computer using kdeconnect 2. Use the remote input 3. OBSERVED RESULT Touch inputs are not read as if using a touchpad EXPECTED RESULT Touch inputs are read as if using a touchpad SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Nixos 22.05 (unstable) KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90 Qt Version: 5.15.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Strongly agree. Using smartphone as a touchpad could be very nice feature, but this constant unintentional drag-and-drop makes it nearly unusable for me. It would be so nice to have small rectangular buttons on both sides of screen, acting as left and right mouse buttons, while central area (the actual "touchpad") would be used only for moving a cursor. So unintentional drag-and-drop behavior wouldn't occur.
(In reply to user32767 from comment #1) Can you please try the latest version of KDE Connect? Recently the plugin has been improved, e.g. added mouse buttons. [1] [1] https://invent.kde.org/network/kdeconnect-android/-/merge_requests/342
