SUMMARY *** Inserting a composition into a video clip sometimes snaps to a length other than the defined default *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Assume one video clip in timeline, say length 15 seconds. 2. Right click on the clip in timeline, select "insert a composition", select one of Composite and Transform, Dissolve, and Wipe, say 'dissolve'. 3. The initial insertion of the dissolve snaps to the full length of the video clip (15s in this case). This will continue until some other (or maybe the same) composition is selected, say 'wipe'. THAT composition is inserted as the default length specific in settings -> configure kdenlive -> misc. Deleting that composition and re-inserting 'dissolve' works correctly for that clip. 4. Similar behavior occurs with overlapping video clips in the timeline 5. The process repeats, though, for additional clips, that is, the initial insertion snaps to the full clip length. OBSERVED RESULT A. Inserted composition is not the correct/desired length EXPECTED RESULT A. Inserted composition should be the default length :: OR :: there should be a setting to control this behavior. Me too -- same issue. I'm using AppImage 21.12.3 on Linux Mint 20.2. Agree that composition should default to just about 2 secs. Thanks
Stop the presses - I just noticed that if I click in the top corner - this is the "fade" effect - and this seems to default to about 1 or 2 secs - which is fine for me. So I'll use the "fade" instead of "composition". Thanks.
