(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2) Just gone to take make a back trace and realized the application hangs indefinitely rather than hard crashing, after messing with my system I removed some packages I installed to try and get my fingerprint reader working and the settings work again after removing them, so it seems that the issue is to with me configuring my finger print reader incorrectly.
OK cool, glad to hear it. Sounds like those packages are were incompatible.
