Now on 88 percent I update the files on the bad charger (hp) the bios show "the ac power adapter type cannot be determined battery will not charge"
From UPower's perspective, the battery is charging: battery present: yes state: charging If that does not accurately reflect the true charging status, there is an issue much deeper in the stack. Seems like this restriction must happen at the firmware or PMU level. I suspect this is a scummy intentional limitation that Dell imposes just to be assholes to their customers. :( Some laptop manufacturers periodically do this; HP has also done it in the past. There isn't any way we can work around this. If you feel that you can't live with this limitation, the best advice I can give is to avoid Dell's hardware in the future, or return it and get something from another manufacturer.
