Description andyjb 2022-02-26 22:50:17 UTC
SUMMARY
Amending the case of a filename on a samba mount results in losing the file.

From smbclient:

smb: \Download\> rename Sonic3C.gen sonic3c.gen
NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_COLLISION renaming files \Download\Sonic3C.gen -> \Download\sonic3c.gen

Error is reported and file remains unaffected. However, attempting the same operation in Dolphin will result in the loss of the file.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create file AA on samba mount
2. Rename aa

OBSERVED RESULT
Rename fails, file is lost.

EXPECTED RESULT
Rename fails, error described, file remains.

This was supposed to be fixed in Bug 430585 with version 21.04; can you confirm what version you have?
Comment 2 Harald Sitter 2022-03-21 07:52:43 UTC
Also what exactly do you mean when you say samba mount?
