STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start a Plasma Wayland session 1. Open e.g. LibreOffice Writer 2. Open or switch to any other window (-> LibreOffice window loses focus) 3. Inside the unfocussed LO window, click on a menu (File, Edit, etc.) OBSERVED RESULT The menu appears in the centre of the screen and has a window decoration. EXPECTED RESULT It should appear as a menu, not as a window on its own. I can reproduce this when running a Kubuntu 22.04 daily-live image in VirtualBox (and log in to a Wayland session manually). SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Kubuntu 21.10+Backports/22.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2
Can reproduce. Might be a LO problem, not sure.
Confirm behavior on openSUSE Tumbleweed running Wayland. Behavior of dialog windows is present in all LO applications, and even in settings menus. I think this may be the DocumentFoundation bug ID for this: 144585 https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144585
Not a kwin bug.
(In reply to David Edmundson from comment #3) > Not a kwin bug. Ok, does that implicate it is a bug in LibreOffice? The thing is, I can't reproduce it with LibreOffice on Gnome Wayland session (just tested with two up-to-date (K)Ubuntu Jammy test installations).
Sorry, I first overlooked the linked upstream report. But this might be a different bug than the one I reported here anyway: * it references only to behaviour of button popups, not of menus * LO 7.2 contains a temporary fix for the button popups thing, and I can confirm that this fix works for me on LO 7.2 on Kubuntu 22.10, but only for the exact use case with the button popups! While my bug here with menus opening as separate windows shows up also on LO 7.2 (independently whether this fix is included or not).
>Ok, does that implicate it is a bug in LibreOffice? Yes, or toolkits used by libreoffice. I'm sure they can direct it towards the right place if needed.
Can reproduce this as well on openSUSE Tumbleweed with Plasma Wayland.
