SUMMARY *** Plasma Desktop loose the background picture during session on one single monitor (principal) while in dual monitor session with several activities. All settings (apps, etc) are lost completely. Hence, this bug brings about data loss. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. I have three activities. One is loosing regularly all settings in the "principal monitor". The loss does not affect the other activities. It appears also to be independent of bug 396359. 2. open three activities and work normally. One will loose the apps and background at random. Once lost, they have to be restored in the settings. OBSERVED RESULT data loss during session (leaving all other activities and desktops undamaged (inclusive the e.g. secondary screen with independent settings) but erasing all settings for background and apps in one specific screen (with me principal), in one of the activities only. A restart of plasma (unlike e.g. but 396359 mentioned above) does NOT change the issue and does NOT restore the settings. The settings are lost. EXPECTED RESULT activities and apps should not vanish in the middle of a session, data should not be lost. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 under X11 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Graphic AMD Radeon Pro WX 3200
We made a lot of changes in Plasma 5.27 that were designed to fix the various causes of this issue. Would you mind testing again with Plasma 5.27.4 and seeing if the issue is still happening? Thanks!
