Description Ben 2022-02-10 23:37:25 UTC
KDE Plasma Wayland:

Attempting to move a taskbar in edit mode from one monitor to another monitor does not work - also this sometimes (Intermittant) results in everything freezing up, except the mouse pointer
One is then forced to press the PC button which takes you to the logout screen

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Attempt to move the taskbar from one monitor to another

OBSERVED RESULT - Wayland:

Attempting to move a taskbar in edit mode from one monitor to another monitor does not work - also this sometimes (Intermittant) results in everything freezing up, except the mouse pointer
One is then forced to press the PC button which takes you to the logout screen

EXPECTED RESULT: Works as it should

Works for me on Wayland. When you say, "1. Attempt to move the taskbar from one monitor to another" can you clarify what exactly you are doing? What specifically are you clicking or dragging, and to where?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE PROBLEM:

1. On my Main (Primary) 32" Monitor i right click on my taskbar in an empty area and select 'Enter Edit Mode'
2. I then move the mouse pointer onto the TOP area that sais 'Drag to move' and while holding the Left Mouse button down
i then proceed to drag the mouse pointer onto another monitor (either left or right)

RESULT:

Either The outline of the taskbar will remove itself from the initial monitor it was on, and appear on one of the other monitor sides
or 'near' the bottom where i want it to be - but it will not correctly position itself on the bottom

This *sometimes* results in the Desktop becoming 100% non-responsive, i.e. clicking on anything (including the standard bar which appears at the top of the screen when you enter Edit Mode) - the mouse pointer being the only thing that you can still move
Pressing the PCs hardware ON/Off button will take you back to the login screen where you can either logout or turn pc off.

So where does it go instead? Is there any chance you could attach a screen recording that shows the issue happening?

> This *sometimes* results in the Desktop becoming 100% non-responsive
That sounds like a separate issue, so let's get another bug report for it.

Can you please be specific about exactly what you want me to put in a new bug report ?
Just copy over same info as here - but with a new bug title ?
Comment 6 Nate Graham 2022-02-23 20:05:14 UTC
The fact that the desktop freezes when you drag a panel to another screen. That's a different problem from the originally reported issue of being unable to drag a panel to another screen.

Is'nt this an issue for devs to take up now ?
Unless anyone is specifically requesting more info from me - the original bug submitter - then unless i get more get myself
i have nothing more to add
Please review all other notes

Not sure what to do. It's working for me, I can't reproduce your issue, and I don't know what else to ask for to further triage the issue unless you attach the screen recording I requested. Can you do that?

It's probably better to scrap this BUG at this point
Im sorry i did not get a screen recording to you before - i have been extremely busy

Reason to scrap bug:

I can no longer boot into a Wayland session anymore (separate bug report)
Comment 11 Nate Graham 2022-03-14 14:20:51 UTC
OK, let's re-open it if and when you can reproduce the bug again.
