SUMMARY Wayland session doesn't output session logs in Plasma 5.24.0 but X11 session logs work fine STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start wayland plasma session via SDDM or from tty (with "startplasma-wayland > ~/logs 2>&1") 2. Check the logs ("tail -f ~/.local/share/sddm/wayland-session.log") OBSERVED RESULT Wayland session doesn't produce session logs after startup EXPECTED RESULT Both X11 and Wayland session produce the same logs SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Arch Linux, Plasma 5.24.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This env was set: export QT_LOGGING_RULES="kwin_*.debug=true"
The logs are in the journal: journalctl --user -u plasma-kwin_wayland Does it log something for you though when you start a second session as described here or does it not? https://community.kde.org/KWin/Wayland#Start_a_Plasma_session_on_Wayland
Is systemd boot enabled on your machine? If not, I remember seeing similar issue with sddm, but it was present only in sddm built from git master
