Created attachment 146415 [details] Addons overlay can make Discover SUMMARY Double-clicking on the addon button on a page in Discover can make the view not get updated until the window is resized. To be honest, I've managed to make the page freeze with a single click as well in some cases, but double-clicking is the most reliable way of reproducing the bug. Sometimes, I also manage to make the window stay alive, but clicking on the button again wouldn't bring up the overlay until switching to another app's page and back. You might have to keep trying to trigger the bug several times to see it in action. Please refer to the attached video to see how to reproduce it. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Discover 2. Search for Dolphin 3. Double-click on "Addons" as fast as possible until the bug happens OBSERVED RESULT The page looks stuck until the window gets resized/unmaximized EXPECTED RESULT No matter how fast or how many times the user clicks, it shouldn't get stuck. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.91.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 Kernel Version: 5.13.0-28-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 6 × Intel® Core™ i5-9400F CPU @ 2.90GHz Memory: 7,6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Radeon RX 570 Series
I have the same problem on neon unstable while clicking on availlable apps repeatedly to open their description pages. Discover window is updated after switching to another app and then switching back by pressing alt+tab.
Hmm, cannot reproduce. But double-clicking on the button definitely produces a slightly glitchy effect. Regardless, why would you double-click on a button? :)
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2) > Hmm, cannot reproduce. But double-clicking on the button definitely produces > a slightly glitchy effect. > > Regardless, why would you double-click on a button? :) As I said, I also managed to make the same thing happen by clicking only once, but it's much easier to make it happen when double-clicking. Maybe I could've chosen a better title. If I try enough times, I can make the view freeze by single-clicking and closing the pop-up. I don't know exactly what causes the view to freeze. Sometimes I can reproduce it easily, sometimes I can't. I'll try making more tests to see if I can find some kind of pattern, but the behavior of freezing is very similar to this bug:
This bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=447958 Now I tried reproducing it with a single click and I couldn't. That's weird because yesterday, even after restarting the computer a few times, I could make it freeze. Double-clicking still shows some strange behavior though.
This appears fixed for me now, within the caveat that double-clicking a button almost never makes sense and there's no reason to do it. Can anyone still reproduce it with the git master versions of Discover and Kirigami?
