STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open KDE Mail (kmail2) 2. Check message list OBSERVED RESULT in the current version of kmail a vertical bar (html switcher) is displayed in the message windows. Even for mails with rather short text messages the message window is too big. The list of e-mails just above the current message window is quite small. When using kmail on a notebook / netbook, the current implementation of kmail2 and the html switcher is not practical. In previous versions of kmail one could switch off this "html switcher" feauture, in the current one it is not possible to deactivate this feature. Leave it up to the user if she/he wants such a feature or not. Do not prescribe what the user should have or should tolerate. EXPECTED RESULT: 1. Re-implement the feature to allow for the activation / deactivation the "html switcher" feature. The user knows best what he wants to have. 2. Do not implement the display of the "html switcher" feature as a vertical bar. I reckon that there are a lot of possibilities to make the kmail user aware that the current message is plain text of html mail etc. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: SuSE Linux Leap 15.3; latest patches applied KDE Plasma Version: plasmashell 5.18.6 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Do you recommend to switch to Thunderbird? ;-)
