Description George Hazan 2022-01-26 11:04:57 UTC
SUMMARY
When I login, I see ibus tray icon, while in its settings this icon is disabled. I have to check and then uncheck "Show tray icon" in Ibus settings to hide this icon from tray. On next login the procedure repeats.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Uncheck "Show tray icon" in Ibus settings (rclick on ibus tray icon -> Preferences -> General)
2. Restart kubuntu.
3. Observe ibus tray icon.

OBSERVED RESULT
Tray icon remains in the tray after login.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should be no icon if it's disabled in the Preferences.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
Kubuntu 21.10, KDE Version 5.23.90
KDE Frameworks Version:
Version 5.90.0
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Easily reproducible in 100% of cases

I can confirm this with IBus on Wayland.

Are you on Wayland too, or X11?

I'm on X11.
Comment 4 Nate Graham 2022-01-27 16:19:50 UTC
Not Wayland-specific then, I suppose.

After almost a year the bug is still here :)
Kubuntu 22.10, KDE 5.25.5, Qt 5.15.6, Frameworks 5.98.0

The invisible ibus tray icon still appears in the tray after every boot and creates an ugly gap between the icons.

Linux/KDE Plasma:
Fedora 37
KDE Version: 5.26.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.101.0
Qt Version: 5.15.7

Yes, just upgraded my Kubuntu 22.10 to KDE 5.26.5, Frameworks 5.101.0, Qt 5.15.6 - bug is still here
Comment 10 David Redondo 2023-02-03 15:24:37 UTC
This is not a Plasma bug.
Settings and icon come from ibus
