I work with a lot of old photos, I digitize these with a scanner. Usually the background is white, the content are center on the page (Small picture in an A4 page). If a scanned image is to be cropped, I use the "Crop to selection" tool, however, the selection is not visible in the white area. If ended the selection, the selection contour is not visible, only the corner and middle editor points are visible in the selection. This makes the selection tool difficult to use. A dashed line would be better for selection.

Long-awaited fix! Thank you, Craig and Maik.
Sorry Craig an another project :-) Thank you, Gilles and Maik.
Although this ticket has already been closed, please allow me to make two observations: 1) I occasionally use XnView, where the dashed selection line is not animated, yet it remains perfectly usable. I feel that the animation of the selection line in digiKam is also unnecessary, and it actually causes a minor visual glitch: due to the animation, the selection line occasionally disappears at the corners. 2) The gaps between the segments of the dashed line are very small, making the dark parts of the line almost touch each other. Would it be possible to make the gap between the dark line segments slightly larger? Regards, Peter
