SUMMARY In Plasma Wayland 5.23.90, the KTorrent system tray icon is missing even though it is enabled in the settings. KTorrent also does not open its window by default. Instead, it has to be opened manually, through something like Kickoff or KRunner. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open KTorrent 2. No system tray icon is present 3. Window also does not open by default 4. Starting the KTorrent application *again* from Kickoff will raise the window OBSERVED RESULT No system tray icon is present when opening KTorrent, even if it is enabled in the settings. The system tray will briefly stretch as though the icon is being added, before returning to normal, all within about a second. EXPECTED RESULT Tray icon is present just like in Plasma 5.23.5, and window raises correctly. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Application: KRunner 21.12.1 Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.16.0-arch1-1 KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Have only tested on Wayland, but tested on my desktop and laptop both running the same Arch Linux w/ KDE Plasma Beta.
Seems to be working now as of today. Not sure what changed though. I ran some updates but I don't remember what packages updated that might have fixed it.
In 5.24.0, the issue is back. The behaviour is now identical to that of the initial report.
There has been a change in the behaviour in 5.24.90: KTorrent seems to appear and disappear very quickly in the System Tray, but it is in the overflow menu for the system tray (it can be seen by pressing the down arrow on the left). In the System Tray settings, it is set to "Show when relevant" and this can be toggled to be "Always shown", but this would need to be done for all system trays across all displays. Previously in older releases of Plasma, KTorrent's tray icon was always shown regardless.
