Kate screenshot

I have been using Kate to develop some PHP website for some years and it has so much useful function.

I have installed nightly version of Kate from flatpak (version: 22.03.70) and it seemd very elegant.

There is only one thing that I have no idea is I coldn't disable/hide Output widget. I can move from bottom to left or right but I cannot disable/hide it.

Offcourse, I can move it to the left sidebar but I connot hide it.

IMHO, shere should be an option to disable/hide it.

Thanks.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install the latest Kate from flatpak.
2. Disable all plugins via Menu -> Settings -> Configure Kate -> Plugins
3. Go to view menu, go to Configure menu and others. You can't find an option to hide Output menu.

EXPECTED RESULT

There should be an option to hide/disable Output widget.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
OS: Ubuntu 20.04 Stable Version.
KDE Plasma: Kate was installed on GNOME, there is no KDE Plasma.
KDE Version: It was installed from Flatpak. (KDE Frameworks: Version 5.89.0, Qt Version 5.15.3 (built against 5.15.3),
KATE version: 22.03.70

Hi,

We added the output view as a central place to show errors/warnings etc from plugins. As such, it was made persistent without a way to disable it.

Adding an option to disable it would be trivial but let's what the team says.

Besides that, not sure where you got the flatpak version of Kate as we don't support flatpak anymore because of numerous issues with flatpak. I would suggest using the AppImage/snap, that may work better (or not).

I could live with some option to fully hide this.
But perhaps it would make sense to have this option generic to hide any toolview, e.g. that would allow for more flexibility.
For the Flatpak, I thought that package was purged, but guess this is some nightly, if that is at least not advertised as stable, I can live with having people play with it that way.

I used this guideline to get the most recent version of the Kate and I think it is official and yes it is Nightly version.

 https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Flatpak

I also installed AppImage version of Kate and it is the same version (Kate 22.03.70).

I used official page to install it (https://kate-editor.org/get-it/)

Valid wish to hide it, but as said, perhaps a more generic "hide toolview X feature" would be even nicer.

Toolview buttons can be hidden in 22.08. Right click on the button you want to hide and click on "hide"
