SUMMARY I have a P20 workstation and the NVidia only driver mode configured. When I go to sleep mode and wake up, a few graphic glitches like flickering objects occur, until after some time the x-server seems to crash. Windows get gray and you only see fractals or black shades. My colleagues don't have any issues on Unity or GNOME. When graphic issues occur, I usually try to restart kwin and plasmashell, but it doesn't work in this case. Could also be that kwin core is not the issue here, but I wouldn't know where else to submit this bug. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set up the NVidia graphics driver on ThinkPad P20 2. Go to sleep mode 3. Wake up again OBSERVED RESULT After some times severe graphic issues occur. EXPECTED RESULT No glitches. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2

If you press shift+alt+F12 or restart KWin (kwin_x11 --replace) after that happens, does the issue go away?
Yes, I just tried pressing Shift+Alt+F12 and the issue indeed goes away. The fonts in the window borders are still a bit garbled up, but when I enter kwin --replace afterwards, everything is back to normal. Thank you, now I don't have to restart everytime with all of my windows opened. I think this is a critical bug though. Any ideas which packages could be involved? I would be happy to try out some things or provide logs.
If Xorg crashes, the issue might be elsewhere. Can you report this issue to Xorg developers please?
Technically, the X-server doesn't crash, it is only kwin that creates the glitches. I just wasn't very precise/sure about the naming of the issue.
Changes were made for Plasma 5.26, please confirm if the issue remains
