Profile says that you get Output +Input, but in the background you can see that only input is detected

SUMMARY
See screenshot; Applet lets me pick the profile "Analog Surround Audio 4.0 output + Analog stereo input", but once selected only enables the microphone

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug-in stereo headphones
2. Open the applet
3. Select a profile that obviously doesn't work for your headphones (4.0 audio on stereo headphones??)

OBSERVED RESULT
Can select the profile

EXPECTED RESULT
There is no wrong profile

Does this work as expected in pavucontrol?

Pavucontrol shows me the same options as the applet.
Comment 6 Nicolas Fella 2022-01-19 19:58:16 UTC
Does it also show the same input/output devices?

Well the only output device shown is a HD Audio Controller and the only port is "Speakers (unavailable)".

Also, dunno if it's helpful, but I was unable to reproduce this in Arch with Plasma 5.23.5, only in KDE Neon testing...

Plasma hides devices that only have one unavailable port. Otherwise what Plasma and pavucontrol show is the same? That would suggest that Plasma works as expected with the information it gets from PipeWire. If profiles are marked as available but shouldn't be then it's an issue in Pipewire. Please report that to https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues
