SUMMARY
When taking a screenshot using a keyboard shortcut, Spectacle always opens now. Previously as recent as Plasma 5.23.5, Spectacle could silently take a screenshot and could be set to play a sound. This is true for every mode I have tested: Current Window, Current Monitor, All Monitors and Rectangular Region.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Bind a screenshot action to a keyboard shortcut (e.g.,"PrintScreen" for current display).
2. Take a screenshot using this shortcut
3. Spectacle window will open


OBSERVED RESULT
Spectacle window opens when using a keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot.


EXPECTED RESULT
Spectacle window should either stay hidden or have a toggle to turn this off when taking a screenshot. When using a keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot, previous behaviour was to not show any window.

Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.16.0-arch1-1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The screenshots themselves save and the Spectacle window can be closed, this is just an inconvenience when taking a quick screenshot (for example, in a game).

I forgot to mention in the report (oops), but this did not happen on my first login when upgrading to the Plasma 5.23.90 beta. It wasn't until I opened the Spectacle application for the first time that this began happening. It seems to persist when rebooting too.

It sounds a bit like the `spectacle` process is secretly still open in the background even when it's main window is not visible. Can you check that?

If you find that this is the case, can you try to terminate its process (`killall spectacle` in a terminal window should do it) and then try the global shortcut again and see if it does what you expect?

Very strange, when testing for you now I have been unable to reproduce the issue. On my laptop running Plasma 5.23.90 I am also unable to reproduce the issue. Huh.

To answer your question though, I can't seem to get the spectacle process to run in the background. Perhaps in these instances, for whatever reason it was, but I am unable to check now.

Occasionally I've had other issues that might be related to spectacle running in the background: When attempting to take a regional screenshot, occasionally on my laptop it would remember the previous region, but this has resolved itself since yesterday it appears.

I'll report back if I'm able to reproduce this and if I am, hopefully I'll have more information to share regarding this.
