Whenever a file selection window/dialog opens (e.g. when adding an attachment in KMail), the list of files is 'broken' and not reflecting the content of the directory. Not a kwin bug. It'll be the common accidental subsurface issue. I fixed one in files recently. Can you run under gdb and put a breakpoint in the QPlatformWindow constructor and attach a log of each occurrence.

I guess this is beyond my skills, however, when I logged into wayland I just got a black screen, active processes like Firefox came up, but no proper desktop of krunner (openSUSE Tumbleweed 20220309) Name : kwayland Version : 5.91.0-2.1
Is this issue still reproducible? I used to face this for sure but haven't seen it in the recent plasma versions.
I tried it again on Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20220605 KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.94.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.18.1-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland and the issue is indeed disappeared!
